As of November 18th, we will have been Seattlites for 6 months. Half a year. 182.5 days, people. Nuts! We’re looking forward to experiencing our first winter in the Pacific Northwest; from what I hear, it’s usually not that much different from Texas’ winters, just much wetter. This year, however, we’re in for a special treat: a fierce La Nina. The fiercest in 55 years, in fact. I’m not sure my Target-brand, “more for the look than functionality” goulashes will do the trick. ; )
If you couldn’t tell via Facebook, Devin and I have been into our iPhone photo apps recently. I know, I know, it’s not “real” lomography and it’s a little poser-y to use an iPhone to create something with a vintage effect (since the two are opposites), but it does create adorable photos. Plus, the Diana Mini with a flash is $100. The photo apps on my phone cost between .00 and .99 each. WIN. Here are some of my recent favorites:
Devin and Diego resting up! These guys, and Jersey, are my pals and the best part of my days. I’m glad to be experiencing everything Seattle has to offer with all three of them!
This is First Avenue; we were waiting for the bus when I took this. The Picasso exhibit is going on now at the Seattle Art Museum.
The Seattle Waterfront.
People seriously love their dogs in Seattle. Meet Woody. He was hanging out in front of the M Street grocery store in our neighborhood, waiting for his owner. I’m usually not a pug fan, but Woody was real cool.
Fall leaves.
A little inspiration at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill.
Seattle is “pretty cool to the homeless,” as one episode of South Park put it. I really like how politicians and the general public in Seattle make an effort to address issues that relate to homelessness. It has been an adjustment getting used to seeing homeless folks on a daily basis; sometimes it’s sad, sometimes it’s scary (but not usually). Devin and I have “favorite” homeless acquaintances: Bob, the Real Change vendor and the Vietnam veteran that hangs out by M Street Grocery. Both are amazing fellas and enjoyable additions to any day. We’re trying to think of some type of gift to get them for the holidays - suggestions welcome.
I guess that’s all for now!
